ISA to hold forum on successes in public governance

Reform institute’s upcoming Public Governance Forum to showcase fruits of public institutions’ efforts
towards good governance
The Institute for Solidarity in Asia (ISA) is set to spearhead the Public Governance Forum on May 4, 2015 at the Philippine International Convention Center with select public institutions ready to report on their achievements that highlight the positive effects of ISA’s sustained public governance reform program in their respective organizations.
A mix of national government agencies and local government units will present their progress based on the Performance Governance System (PGS), an approach that teaches government institutions how to create, execute, and sustain effective development plans that lead to sound public governance. It is based on the Harvard Business School’s Balanced Scorecard model.
Participants in the forum include national government agencies: Governance Commission on GOCCs, Development Bank of the Philippines, Philippine Heart Center, Philippine Air Force, and Armed Forces of the Philippines. Also joining are local government units: the provincial government of Bataan, the city governments of San Fernando in La Union, Bislig, Talisay, Butuan, Mandaue, Dipolog, and the municipal government of Dinalupihan.
The said organizations are to report on their breakthrough results achieved through PGS, which ultimately aims to build a stronger Philippine society based on good governance and responsible citizenship. PGS has four stages: Initiation, Compliance, Proficiency, and Institutionalization. The city of San Fernando, La Union is expected to achieve Institutionalization status through its efforts this year.
The forum is supported by the National Competitiveness Council, San Miguel Corporation, Meralco, Sun Life Financial, UnionBank, Deloitte / NavarroAmper & Co., Abrea Consulting Group, and CSR Philippines.
