Logistics Challenges and Opportunities Explored through NCC Dialogues

Logistics Challenges and Opportunities Explored through NCC Dialogues

April 22 – the National Competitiveness Council (NCC), in partnership with International Finance Corporation World Bank (IFC-WB), will be conducting a dialogue on logistics at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) Conference Center, Makati City. This Dialogue entitled “Trade Logistics Reforms: Challenges & Opportunities” aims to help government agencies and policy makers in identifying activities and crafting strategies to enhance the logistics system in the country.

The Dialogue’s guest speaker, Mr. Periklis Saragiotis, will highlight some of the best practices, challenges and opportunities in trade and logistics landscapes of other countries which may serve as valuable references to the Philippines’ logistics stakeholders. Mr. Saragiotis, a Trade Logistics Specialist at the Trade Unit of the World Bank Group based in Vienna, Austria, holds a Master’s degree on Logistics and Supply Chain Management from the George Washington University. His thirteen years of experience in the area of infrastructure and development, trade facilitation and transport logistics allowed him to take lead in a number of trade logistics projects around the globe.

His talk will give the delegates an overview of the recent trends in Global Trade and Logistics. The dialogue is geared towards igniting a conversation addressing how public and private institutions could work together in improving the logistics ecosystem in the Philippines. The services provided by public agencies have huge opportunities for improvement in terms of increasing quality and lowering the costs. The private sector, on one hand, would be crucial in creating more seamless and more powerful systems to support businesses and consumers.

The NCC Dialogues is a series of fora designed to bring together key policy makers, businessmen and CSO leaders to be informed, engaged, and to take action and participate in pressing and relevant public policy matters.
