Tourism Congress meeting slated July 26 in Bohol

The Tourism Congress of the Philippines Visayas will hold a consultative meeting with various stakeholders on July 26 at the Bellevue Resort on Panglao Island, Bohol.

The meeting will focus on issues and strategies that impact on tourism competitiveness and growth.

This is part of the continuing consultative programs of the Tourism Congress to reach all of its stakeholders from the various sectors in all regions.

The congress also aims to unify the stakeholders in convergence with the various agencies to achieve global competitiveness in tourism and be prepared for ASEAN Integration in 2015.

Bohol Gov. Edgar Chatto will be the guest speaker.

Tourism Undersecretary on Tourism Development Daniel Corpuz will present updates on the national tourism development plan, while Undersecretary Victoria Jasmin will present the standardization and accreditation rules for accommodation, travel and tours, and the transport sectors.

Guillermo Luz, private sector co-chairman of the National Competitiveness Council Philippines, will tackle the theme on Competitiveness in Asia. He will also lead the interaction with different representatives from government agencies like Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, Department of Public Works and Highways, Department of Transportation and Communications and the Department of Foreign Affairs.

The consultative meeting is open to all Tourism Congress members and other DOT accredited tourism establishments that wish to be members, with the common goal to make the Visayas region ready for ASEAN Integration.
